In the recent past, SLF has secured protection for Good Samaritans, who help injured persons, from ensuing legal and procedural hassles; convinced Government of India to draft a comprehensive road safety law for India; ensured ban on trucks from carrying protruding rods; trained over 8000 Police personnel to rescue and revive injured persons on the road; and got two Private Member Bills introduced in the Parliament.


SLF’s path breaking work has been recognised both nationally as well as internationally. SLF has been recognised as the best NGO in India by Rockefeller Foundation; won the prestigious Prince Michael International Road Safety Award; and got featured by Satyamev Jayate TV Show hosted by actor Aamir Khan.


SLF’s success hinges on its highly dynamic team, which we are now expanding to scale our impact. We are looking for a full-time Manager, Policy & Research with

  • Skills and Talent in drafting legislations and all policy documents and conducting in-depth research;
  • Interest to provide support to policy advocacy team on all execution related activities
  • Passion to engage with a wide variety of stakeholders and invest at least 3 years to its mission


ROLE
  • Provide leadership to the policy, advocacy and research initiatives of the organization.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to advocate for legislative reforms in the Parliament as well as State legislatures
  • Lead the development of content pertaining to the policy and research initiatives and customize it for consumption by media, policy makers and general public 
  • Develop and execute legal strategies in coordination with external legal counsels in the Supreme Court and High Courts
  • Engage with policymakers at the highest levels for legislative reforms and for policy implementation.
  • Develop and coordinate with stakeholders relevant to policy objectives to ensure support and alignment of efforts
  • Contribute effectively towards research protocols through development of research tools, manage primary and secondary data collection
  • Check implementation of policy interventions or legislations through on ground efforts and supervise field surveys and research studies commissioned by the organization
  •  Keep abreast with the latest research, policy/legal related news/events on road safety & emergency care
  • Management of operations and management functions in relation to the organization’s policy advocacy project
  • Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as maybe assigned

Desired Skills and Qualifications
  • Graduate/Post-Graduate degree in law/public policy
  •  Experience in policy advocacy or government relations, or public policy is mandatory
  • Experience in drafting legislative bills 
  • Prior non-profit experience is preferred
  • Excellent English written and oral communications skills
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Willing to commit at least three years to the role
  • Strong ability to work independently and willingness to learn
  • A firm commitment to the objectives of SaveLIFE Foundation
Compensation:
Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, medical insurance and other benefits as per organization policy

Location: New Delhi with travel across India
