Ph D Program started today at IIHMR, Jaipur for strengthening research capacity and to improve health of people through accessible, affordable and equitable health

Jaipur, April 8,2014.

The IIHMR University is the first “University” in the health sector in India and has now introduced First Batch of Ph D Program in Hospital and Health Management at IIHMR Campus, Jaipur. 


Former Chief Secretary M.L.Mehta, Chairman of Rajasthan Skill and Livelihood Development Corporation (RSLDC) and Chairperson of the IIHMR today while inaugurating the Ph D Program said that it aims at building and strengthening research capacity in the Management of healthcare in order to improve the standards of health of people through accessible, affordable and equitable health services.
Dr Arindam Das,Ph D Programme Coordinator informed that Twenty one (21)  Participants selected  from Masters’ Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) in hospital and health Management and also working professionals -health administrators, policy makers, medical/nursing and management professionals from all over India  will undertake the PhD Program,

Dr S.D Gupta, President of the IIHMR University in his welcome address  said that IIHMR is a specialized organisation  exclusively working for  last 30 years  in health  sector with an emphasis on management research, education and training. Now, IIHMR University is the first “Research

University” in the health sector in India. Till now, the IIHMR was offering only post graduates programmes, keeping in view the emerging Human resource needs and skill requirement in the health sector, has now introduced Ph D Program in Hospital and Health Management at IIHMR, Jaipur. “These are very relevant to health sector reforms and strengthening healthcare to achieve Millennium Development Goals (MGD), especially in the wake of changing global economic scenario and financing options, Dr Gupta added.

The Institute has worldwide collaboration and networking with various national and international organizations and universities to promote public health education in this part of the world. IIHMR is also a WHO collaborating centre for District Health System based on primary healthcare.

Col. (Dr.) Ashok Kaushik Dean, Academic & Student Affairs, while delivering vote of thanks remarked that  doctoral program designed with a multidisciplinary focus to meet the needs  in the field of policy and management research in the health sector including hospitals, health systems and services, pharmacy  etc.
