Executive
Management Programmes are part-time in nature and are usually of between 12 and
24 months length, depending on the coverage. The programmes are targeted at
students with extensive work experience. The instruction is a mix of online and
on-campus lectures and may include experiential and project work as well.
There are
several advantages in the Executive Management Programme structure:
Focused
learning:
Executive
programmes usually offer tailored coverage for specific objectives since
students have extensive experience, which gives them a clear idea about what
they want out of a course. This helps to make the curriculum relevant to those
objectives.
Learn and
earn:
Experienced
executives have a large opportunity cost to pay in addition to the course fee
if they take up a full-time programme. The structure of the executive
programmes is such that most instruction takes place on weekends and the
on-campus portion is kept to a minimum. This means that students can continue
to earn while learning.
Opportunity for Applied Learning:
Since students
are studying while working, they have a unique opportunity of being able to
immediately apply management concepts in their roles. Not only does this help
them understand academic concepts better but it also enhances their value in
their workplace.
Rich peer Learning Opportunities:
The cohort of an
executive programme is itself a source of learning since students come from
reputed organisations with rich work experience of their own.
Networking:
Focused and
experienced students can put to use the peer group interactions for furthering
their careers by expanding their professional networks.
Soft Skills Training:
Beyond technical
skills, which students already possess through their job roles, the executive
programmes focus on relevant soft skills like communication, team work,
presentations, etc. These are essential skills in any modern organisation
today.
Positioning
for Leadership:
Business leaders
are expected to be generalists who can analyse business issues from multiple
perspectives – financial, operational, human, commercial, etc. The executive
programmes specifically focus on building strategic thinking, team work,
leadership skills, and business acumenthrough established frameworks, all of
which are essential for a business leader.
Facilitating Career Shifts:
For students
aspiring for a change in industry or domain, executive programmes offer the
needed credentials. Completion of the programme makes it much easier to make a
lateral shift into a new area.
