The IIHMR University has been established by Government of Rajasthan vide the IIHMR University Ordinance, 2013 (Ordinance No 30 of 2013) promulgated on September 27,2013 by the Governor which was replaced by the IIHMR University Act, 2014 (Act No.3, of 2014) passed by the State Legislature on February 07, 2014. The Act of 2014 received the assent of the Governor on 25th day of February, 2014 and was finally notified in Rajasthan Gazette Extraordinary on February 26,2014.

Management Development Programme
IIHMR, Jaipur Trains professionals in ‘Health Care Operations Management’ by organizing a Management Development Programme
The world today is fast developing in all possible areas. The increasing health facilities have also resulted in a population explosion and at this juncture the major challenge of healthcare organisations is to provide high quality care at a lower cost. It is therefore felt that Health care managers must find ways to get best results from limited resources available.

It is therefore felt that Health care managers must find ways to get best results from limited resources available.
Operations management is the design, operation, and improvement of the processes and systems that create and deliver the organization's products and services. The healthcare area is filled with opportunities for significant operational improvements. Under the same strategy and with an increasing demand for training in the field of ‘Health Care Operations Management’, IIHMR, Jaipur planned and organised a MDP on the same.
Participants from Nigeria and India participated in the programme. The programme was spread over a period of five days and was much appreciated by the participants and received rave reviews.
Management Development Programme on Supply Chain Management from March 10th-14th , 2014 at IIHMR, Jaipur
An intense training and development programme on Supply Chain Management in the pharmaceutical sector, with a specific stress on rational and judicious distribution of drugs was conducted at IIHMR, Jaipur.
It has been observed by international agencies like the UN that essential medicines are still inaccessible for population struggling with poverty and are still fatally affected by diseases like HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Under the UN initiative for Universal Healthcare Coverage, a healthcare system can serve at its best only with access to medicines. Access to medicines can be best ensured by proper selection and use of quality medicines, sustainable financing and reliable supply system.
The above mentioned training and development programme was designed keeping in mind the requirements of the Supply Chain Management Sector and participants from Tanzania, Sudan, Srilanka, Malawi participated in it. The programme was of a duration of five days.

Padmashri Nirupam Bajpai Visits IIHMR, Jaipur to talk on ‘Improving Access & Efficiency of Public Health Sector in India’
“Improving Access and Efficiency of Public Health Sector in India’ has been a growing concern of the Government at all levels in India, be it the state level or the Central level and the kind of transformation that the country has undergone is very inspiring and has set benchmarks for the entire world including the developed countries”, was the experience of Padmashri Nirupam Bajpai who was at IIHMR, Jaipur on March 10th, 2014 for a session on various issues related to Public Health.
Shri Nirupam Bajpai, a macroeconomist by profession and one of the youngest recipients of the Padmashri, has been contributing into the Field of Public Health and its development since last two decades. His presence at the Institute and his address to the Faculty and other members of the staff was thoroughly appreciated.
He laid prominence on mobilizing and expanding the field of Public Health and suggested means to achieve population stability by way of reducing the infant mortality rate. He also mentioned the contribution made by IIHMR in Public Health with a special mention of the health and hospital managers that it has produced.
Shri Bajpai was full of hopes and expressed his vision of an India where basic health facilities will come to people as their right and not as a privilege.

IIHMR, Jaipur successfully concludes its Management Development Programme on ‘Promoting Rational Use of Drugs in the Community’
Need for more effective planning, research and implementation of rational use of medicines in the community was the main purpose of the Management Development Programme conducted at IIHMR, Jaipur. The MDP was a condensed version adopted from the official two weeks WHO course on ‘Promoting Rational Drug Use in the Community. The focus was also on how to investigate medicines use in the health facilities. The course was participatory in nature and used the knowledge, skills and experiences of participants as a major resource throughout.
The primary objective of the MDP was to provide an exposure to the methods to study and remedy inappropriate medicine use in the community along with an exposure to practical approaches to investigating and prioritizing medicine use problems and means to develop effective strategies for change. It also aimed at understanding methods for improving access to medicines.
In all 9 participants took part in the training programme from various reputed Institutions like National School of Public Health, Brazil, University of Sao Paulo, Brazil, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands, National Health Insurance, Sudan, DAC Office in Herat, Afghanistan, Kiribati, Pacific Islands and India.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. S.D. Gupta, Corporate Director, IIHMR, Dr. P.R. Sodani, Dean Training, IIHMR, Jaipur and Dr. J.S. Bapna, Programme Coordinator on 24th February 2014 and was concluded on the 4th of March, 2014.
