The MBA in Rural Management announced by the IIHMR University Jaipur is in response to the fast changing dynamic realities of a rapidly transforming rural India.
Around
seventy per cent of India continues to live in Six lakh villages, and the
2015-16 general budget, the first full year budget of Prime Minister Narendra
Modi, rightly gives substantial attention to Rural Development coupled with
increased allocation to the farm sector. There is a sizable rural component
covering areas such as housing, electricity, road connectivity, rural
infrastructure, clean energy, improving agriculture and agricultural marketing,
skill development for rural youth, credit for agriculture and small
enterprises, opening markets for rural consumers, water and sanitation, etc. All
these create ample space and need for managers who have a role to perform in
managing various levels of different segments of the processes of rural transformations
in an efficient and effective manner for the larger public good.
The course offers multiple
specializations to be pursued through the second year. The specializations in
domain of Management aims to equip
the student an understanding of issues and challenges relating to human
resource, man power and organizational behavior of a diversity of organizations
related to the development sector. Sector
Specialization aims at equipping the student with specialist knowledge
based operational perspective of key sectors of development like livelihoods,
agriculture, health, education, marketing, water and sanitation. The
specializations in Development Studies aim
to sharpen abilities in strategic and critical thinking, analysis and research
in above mentioned domains or any other issues related to development and
globalisation.
