“Dr. S.D Gupta, Director of Institute of Health Management Research Jaipur, formalizes the launch of the first cohort of Master of Public Health program with Micheal Klag, Dean, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health while his visit to JHSPH, Baltimore, USA. MPH is a cooperative program between Johns Hopkins and IIHMR Jaipur. The first cohort begins on 27th October 2013.

The Institute is currently accepting applications for Cohort 2 which begins in June 2014. “

Dr. Rujuta K. Sanap , Student of PGDHM, Batch 17 is a Winner  of Bodh Yukti-2013, National summer Internship project competition held at Indus Business Academy (IBA), Greater Noida.

Dr. Rujuta has been awarded with certificate of Merit, Winner trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 for the Research Study project  : “Case Study of RGJAY Phase-I: A district wise comparative analysis and insights for RGJAY Phase-II” ,done during internship at Rajeev Gandhi Jeevandayee  Arogya Yojana ,Government of Maharashtra, Mumbai .

The Institute is proud of the achievement of Dr. Rujuta and wishes her success in all her endeavors

Master of Public Health Program


Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in Cooperation with The Indian Institute of Health Management Research 
The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHSPH) Master of Public Health degree program to be offered in Jaipur, India in cooperation with the Indian Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR) will focus on public health capacity building in developing countries. The program is intended for citizens and residents of India and low and middle income countries in the region. The curriculum is designed to cultivate students’ health management skills so that they will be prepared to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of public health programs and services. This program will prepare professionals for challenging careers in managerial positions in public health for both public and private sectors, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and national and multinational organizations. The collaboration between JHSPH and IIHMR will enable students to benefit from JHSPH’s track record of excellence in teaching public health courses and IIHMR’s expertise as a health management research institute in South East Asia. Coursework will involve a mix of both in-person and on-line classes (including a practicum experience and a capstone exercise), adding up to a total of 80 credits. Courses will be taken at the campus of the Indian Institute of Health Management Research in Jaipur, India

The IIHMR Jaipur faculty roped in for teaching the Masters in Public Health (MPH) program


The IIHMR Jaipur faculty roped in for teaching the Masters in Public Health (MPH) program in India have traveled to Johns Hopkins Bloomberg of School of Public Health, Baltimore, USA. The faculty will be stationed in the university for one working week(September). The agenda would be to receive orientation and training on pedagogy methods at JHSPH and to interact with the faculty counterpart at Johns Hopkins for insight in the education standards for MPH at Johns Hopkins. The faculty will receive orientation to the training materials, course structures and  assessment methods at JHSPH.  


There are three faculty who will receive continuous training under education system at Johns Hopkins: 
Dr. Santosh Kumar, Dr. Arindam Das and Dr. Seema Mehta. During 2012, the remaining faculty at IIHMR enrolled for the  MPH program have already received training at Johns Hopkins.

Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh nominated WHO Regional Director

New Delhi, 12 September 2013: Dr Poonam Khetrapal Singh was nominated as Regional Director for the WHO South-East Asia Region today. She was nominated to the post of Regional Director (RD) for a five-year term by the 11 Member States of the Region. The 32 member Executive Board of the World Health Organization is expected to appoint Dr Khetrapal Singh as Regional Director in January 2014, in Geneva. Dr Khetrapal Singh is expected to take office as the RD at the Regional Office in New Delhi on 1 February 2014.
As the Regional Director, Dr Khetrapal Singh brings a vast repertoire of experience, having worked in the health sector for over three decades at both national and international levels. She served with WHO for the past 15 years. She is the first woman to be nominated to this post in the Region.

She started her WHO career in 1998 as a member of Dr Gro Harlem Brundland’s cabinet who was WHO Director-General at the time. Dr Khetrapal Singh served as the Executive Director for Sustainable Development and Healthy Environments in Geneva. From 2000 to 2013, as the Deputy Regional Director for WHO’s South-East Asia Region, she served as the principal adviser to the Regional Director, providing managerial, technical and programmatic support for WHO’s programmes.


Dr Khetrapal Singh served as a senior civil servant in India as a member of the Indian Administrative Services. She was Secretary and Joint Secretary Health and Family Welfare. She has also served with Health, Population and Nutrition (PHN) with the World Bank Mission in India, where she worked to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of health services. Recently she has been working as an Adviser in International health to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, in the Government of India
